Washington: If you are a victim of 2017 Equifax data breach, you can file a claim for compensation.
The settlement, the largest ever for a data breach, was approved by a court on Monday under which the credit-reporting company agreed to pay between $575 million and $700 million.
Equifax struck the deal to settle investigations into a massive data breach that exposed the personal information of more than $147 million Americans.
How to claim
A website www.equifaxbreachsettlement.com is accepting the claims. To know you are eligible, you will have to enter your last name and the last six digits of your Social Security number on the site.
You can also call the Settelement Administrator at 1-833-759-2982.
You also have the option to file the claim by mail. For this you will have to download and print the form and mail it with supporting documentation after filling it out.

The deadline is January 22, 2020.
According to USA Today, there are levels of compensation for ID hacking, up to $20,000.
