Govt to issue notification of new ISI chief’s posting

Islamabad: Prime Minister Imran Khan’s government would soon issue the notification regarding the appointment of ISI chief.

Quoting Interior Ministry Sheikh Rasheed, a senior Islamabad-based journalist said the change of command will take eight to ten days.

The statement comes three days after the Pakistan Army said that current DG ISI Faiz Hameed has been posted as Peshawar Corps Commander while he would be replaced by Lt. General Nadeem Ahmed Anjum as the new head of the country’s premier intelligence agency.

Government’s critics have been speculating that there are difference between Prime Minister Imran Khan and the army over new postings.

According to some analysts, after announcement of posting, the outgoing general visits formations that have been under his command, followed by his farewell dinner and a couple of days leave. Roughly it takes 10-15 days to arrive at new destination.
