Karachi weather and rain update: Wednesday August 10th, 2022
Karachi: Rains are likely to become intense in Karachi from Wednesday.
According to the Met Office, the new spell of rain may continue till August 14th.
It said the monsoon currents continue to penetrate Sindh which is likely to become stronger. Under the influence of this weather system:
Rain-thunderstorms with a few moderate (isolate heavy) falls is expected in Tharparker, Umerkot, Mirpurkhas, Badin, Tando Muhammad khan, Tando Allayar, Hyderabad, Matiari, Thatta, Sujawal, Sanghar, Shaheed Benazirabad, Khairpur, Sukkur, Larkana, Ghotki, Kashmore, Shikarpur, Jacobabad, Dadu, Jamshoro & Kambar Shahdadkot districts & Karachi division & likely to become intense & widespread from tomorrow to14 August. Rainfall intensity also to increase from 10 August in northeastern & southern districts of Balochistan which may trigger flash flooding in Dadu, Jamshoro, Kambar Shahdadkot districts & downstream. Impacts: Heavy falls may create water-logging/urban flooding in low lying areas of Karachi, Hyderabad, Badin, Thatta, Sujawal, Tando Muhammad khan, Tando Allayar, Dadu, Jamshoro, Kambar Shahdadkot, Larkana & Sukkur districts during the forecast period. Persistent heavy rains over Khuzdar, Lasbella, Hub distts & over Kirthar Range may create extra pressure on Hub dam, Thaddo dam & downstream. Sea conditions likely to become rough/very rough during 11-10 August & fishermen are advised to take extra care.
