Karachi weather, rain update: Tuesday 23-08-2022

Karachi: Rains are likely to return to Karachi between August 23 and 25, according to the Pakiatan Meteorological Department (PMD).

Weather in Karachi would remain pleasant on Tuesday.

Below is the advisory released by the Met Office:

“An accentuated seasonal low persists over Balochistan with its trough extending to upper Sindh.

Another strong low-pressure area currently located over central India likely to approach Sindh from tomorrow which may cause again moderate/heavy rain-thunderstorms in most of the districts of Sindh during 23-25 August.

Under the influence of these weather systems: Rain-thunderstorms with isolated moderate/heavy falls likely to continue in Khairpur, Sukkur, Larkana, Ghotki, Kashmore, Shikarpur & Jacobabad distts today.

Rain-wind/thunderstorms with few heavy/very heavy falls are likely in Tharparker, Umerkot, Sanghar, Badin, Hyderabad, Thatta, Sujawal, Matiari, Tando Muhammad Khan, Tando Allayar, Nawabshah, Dadu, Jamshoro, Kambar Shahdadkot, Khairpur, Noshero Feroze, Jacobabad, Ghotki & Kashmore districts during 23-25 August.

Rain-thunderstorm with few moderate/heavy falls also expected in Karachi during 24-25 Aug.

The wet spell to spread over northeastern & southern districts of Balochistan during 23-26 August which may trigger flash flooding in Dadu, Jamshoro, Kambar Shahdadkot districts & downstream.

Impacts: Heavy falls may create more water logging/urban flooding in Umerkot, Badin, Thatta, Sujawal Sukkur, Larkana, Jacobabad, Shaheed Benazirabad, Ghotki, Shikarpur, Noshero Feroze, Kambar, Karachi, Hyderabad, Tando Muhammad Khan,. Tando Allayar Shahdadkot & Kashmore districts during the forecast period. Persistent heavy rains over Khuzdar, Lasbella and Hub distts of Balochistan & over Kirthar Range may create extra pressure on Hub dam, Thaddo dam & downstream nullahs.”
