Karachi weather, rain update: Wednesday 24-08-2022
Karachi: Parts of Karachi received moderate to heavy rain on early Wednesday morning.
The rain is expected to continue till Thursday under prevailing weather system.
A strong monsoon low-pressure area lies over east Rajasthan (India) with its trough extending up to eastern Sindh.
Under the influence of this weather system: Rain-thunderstorms with few heavy/very heavy falls likely to occur in Tharparker, Mirpur Khas, Umerkot, Thatta, Sujawal, Badin, Sanghar, Hyderabad, Matiari,Tando Muhammad Khan, Tando Allayar, Shaheed. Benazirabad, Dadu, Jamshoro, Kambar Shahdadkot, Khairpur, Naushahro Feroze, Jacobabad, Shikarpur,Ghotki, Sukkur, Larkana & Kashmore districts from till 25 August.
Rain-thunderstorm with few moderate (isolated heavy) falls also expected in Karachi from today till August.
The wet spell to spread over northeastern & southern districts of Balochistan from today till 26 August which may trigger flash flooding in Dadu, Jamshoro, Kambar Shahdadkot districts & downstream.
Impacts: Heavy falls may create more water logging/urban flooding in Umerkot, Mirpur Khas, Badin, Thatta, Sujawal, Hyderabad, Tando Muhammad Khan, Tando Allayar, Sukkur, Larkana, Jacobabad, Shaheed Benazirabad, Ghotki, Shikarpur, Naushahro Feroze, Kambar Shahdadkot, & Kashmore districts during the forecast period.
Persistent heavy rains over Khuzdar, Lasbella and Hub distts of Balochistan & over Kirthar Range may create extra pressure on Hub dam, Thaddo dam & downstream nullahs.
