Karachi weather update: Sunday, July 24th

Karachi: The metropolis is expected to receive moderate to heavy rain on Sunday and Monday, according to the Met Office.

The PMD said the current monsoon system is active and could stay over till 26th July as the trail of clouds are going to stay.

The heaviest of this system will start to fall over the city around 10PM to 2AM and can further carry on as the conditions have further improved.

The Met Office said strong monsoon currents started penetrating into eastern Sindh & will prevail till 26/27 July. Under the influence of this weather system: Widespread rain-wind/thunderstorms with scattered heavy/very heavy falls (extremely heavy at times in lower & western Sindh) are likely in Tharparker, Umerkot, Mirpurkhas, Badin, Thatta, Sujawal, Tando M Khan, Tando Allayar, Hyderabad, Matiari, Sanghar, Nawabshah, Khairpur, Sukkur, Larkana, Jacobabad, Dadu, Jamshoro, Shikarpur, Qambar Shahdadkot, Ghotki & Kashmore districts from today to 26th / 27th July and in Karachi division from tomorrow to 26 July 2022.

Possible Impacts :

Heavy/very heavy rainfall may generate urban flooding/water-logging in low lying areas of Karachi, Hyderabad, Matiari, Thatta, Badin, Mirpurkhas, Umerkot, Tharparker, Tando M Khan, Tando Allayar, Sanghar, Nawabshah, Dadu, Jamshoro, Kambar Shahdadkot, Larkana & Sukkur during the forecast period. · Strong winds may damage vulnerable & loose structures. · Persistent heavy spell over Khuzdar, Lasbella, Hub & along Kirthar Range may create pressure on Hub Dam & Flash Flooding in Dadu & Jamshoro districts & downstream.
