Names of PMLN, PPP, JUI Senators who saved Sanjrani

Islamabad: Senate Chairman Sadiq Sanjrani on Thursday survived a no-confidence motion tabled against him by opposition alliance.

The outcome of voting on the motion came as shock for the media and PMLN, PPP, JUIF and their allies, as they fell short of the votes required to de-seat the Senate chairman.

Deputy Senate Chairman also won the confidence of majority of the lawmakers.

The vote in the upper house of the parliament triggered speculations about the opposition lawmakers who changed their loyalties to save the Senate chairman.

Since the balloting on the motion was secret there was no way of knowing the identities of the defectors.

Yet, some senior journalists in Islamabad circulated names of the 14 lawmakers who they thought could have stabbed the opposition in the back.

A senior reporter associated with Business Recorder shared the list of names with The Namal while requesting anonymity.

When asked about the authenticity of the list, he said only a couple of names might be incorrect but journalists have their own reason to suspect the Senators.

While we cannot publish the list due to some legal reasons, the number of lawmakers from opposition parties can be shared with them.

According to the Islamabad-based journalist, 10 Senators from PMLN, three from PPP and one from the JUI-F voted in favour of Senate Chairman Sadiq Sanjrani.
