PM Shehbaz Sharif was not slapped

Islamabad: A fake news regarding differences between Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and the army chief became top Twitter trend on Friday

Twitter accounts associated with the PTI started circulating rumors that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif was slapped by Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa.

PML-N leader Khawaja Muhammad Asif dispelled the notion that there were any differences between the government and the military over the appointment of new army chief.

YouTuber and anchor Imran Riaz Khan was also among the hundreds of people who seemed to lend credence to the rumors.

According to PTI supporters the prime minister was slapped because he asked the army chief to retire before 22 November to pave the way for his favorite candidate.

More than 13,000 tweets were posted with Urdu language hashtag targeting Shehbaz Sharif.

PML-N supporters dismissed the rumors saying the PTI wants to normalize torture on prime minister because their leader Imran Khan was slapped hours before he was kicked out of the prime minister house.
