Who is NAB Chairman Lt. General Nazir Ahmed Butt?
Islamabad: The government has appointed Lt. General (retd) Nazir Ahmed Butt as chairman of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB).
He has served as a member of General (retd) Qamar Javed Bajwa’s team.
Lt. General Nazir Ahmed Butt has also worked as the military secretary to former prime ministers Yousuf Raza Gilani and Shaukat Aziz.
Lt. Gen Butt was appointed as a Military Attache at Pakistan’ Embassy in the US.
Butt has previously served as IG Communication and IT and Commandant Military Academy Kakul.
The new NAB chairman, who was once a contender for the slot of ISI chief, retired as Peshawar Corps Commander.
Meanwhile, the PML-N is receiving backlash for appointing a former military officer as the head of the country’s top anti-corruption watchdog.
The appointment came a day after the army chief met Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
