Who is new ISI chief Lt. Gen Nadeem Ahmed Anjum?
Lt. General Nadeem Ahmed Anjum, Karachi Corps Commander, is expected to replace Lt. General Faiz Hameed as Director General of the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) Director General, according to multiple reports.
The reports said that Hameed is being appointed as Corps Commander Peshawar. Lt Gen Nadeem Ahmed Anjum served as Commandant Command and Staff College Quetta, IG FC Balochistan, Brigade Commander Hangu Kurram Agency before being appointed as Corps Commander Karachi.
He Attended Royal College of Defence Studies UK and Asia Pacific Center for Security Studies Honolulu.
Lt. Gen Nadeem Ahmed Anjum belongs to Shiekh family of Mohra Sheikhan Kontrilla, Gujjar Khan, Rawalpindi. According to Ayesha Siddiqa, an expert on military affairs, “Corps Commander Peshawar would suit Lt. Gen Faiz Hameed as he will have to interact with the ISI more than ever to handle Afghanistan and the border region that is heating up.”
He is known as a professional soldier who is against army’s role in politics.
