Who is Saira Anwar?

Lahore: Saira Anwar, said to be wife of a politician in Punjab, has been summoned by The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) in an inquiry pertaining to assets beyond means.

According to Pakiatan’s leading English daily The News, the agency asked Saira to appear before an investigation officer by January 3.

The FIA reportedly launched the inquiry against Saira due to unusual increase in her assets and the increase in land registered in her name.

Shortly after the report of the FIA inquiry into Saira Anwar’s wealth surfaced, rumors started swirling that she is the second wife of Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervez Elahi.

The reports of Saira Anwar’s marriage to Pervez Elahi could not be independently confirmed. The PML-Q has also avoided addressing the rumors doing the rounds on social media.

It has been reported that Saira Anwar originally belongs to Shakar Garh area of Punjab.

The FIA in the notice asked Saira to provide details about a person namely Athar Naveed. The agency questioned Saira as to why Athar kept withdrawing large sums of money from her account.

Thee agency has observed transactions worth scores of millions in Saira’s account in the recent period along with purchase of valuable jewellery during her foreign trips.
