Careem stirs controversy with wedding ad
KARACHI: Careem, the popular ride hailing service, has sparked a controversy with latest ad ad that appeared on billboards in major cities recently.
The Urdu language ad with a women attired in wedding dress reads “Apni shadi se bhagna ho, tu Careem Bike karo (Choose Careem Bike if you are planning to run away from your marriage).
The company was called out for mocking the marriage culture in a conservative country, being insensitive and unaware of local culture.
They demanded Careem immediately take down the ads.
While a large number of criticized the campaign , others seemed to defend the company.
