Complete lockdown in Pakistan 2021: Fact-check
Islamabad” Pakistan is experiencing a third wave of the deadly novel coronavirus as Islamabad witnessed record number of cases on Friday.
Prime Minister Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Begum were also among those who tested positive for COVID-19.
Shortly after the news of PM Imran contracting coronavirus broke, people starting speculating on social media that authorities are considering imposing a complete lockdown in Pakistan.
The rumors apparently started after Interioe Minister Sheikh Rasheed’s remarks made on TV channels.
As soon as the fake news became viral, the minister issued a video statement to clarify that the statement attributed to
him about lockdown being imposed from Monday is wrong.
He said the NCOC was authorized to announce any such decision.
