Cyclone Gulab: Dark clouds loom over Karachi

Karachi; The Pakistan Meteorological Department has issued a warning ahead of heavy rains that are expected to hit Karachi and other parts of Sindh due to cyclone “Gulab”.

According to the PMD, strong monsoon currents are likely to penetrate into Sindh and continue till 2nd October (Saturday). Under the influence of this weather system: Rain-wind-thundershower with heavy/ very heavy falls is expected in Mirpurkhas, Tharparkar, UmerKot, Sanghar, Thatta, Badin, Karachi, Hyderabad, Tando Allayar, Tando Muhammad Khan, Mityari, Sh. Banazirabad and Dadu districts from today to2nd October with occasional gaps. Heavy falls are also expected in Karachi, Thatta, Badin, Dadu and Hyderabad during the period. Rain-wind-thundershower is expected at scattered places in Sukkur, Larkana and Jacobabad from today to 30th September.

Impact:

Strong winds may cause damages to vulnerable structures. Heavy falls may generate urban flooding in Karachi, Hyderabad, Badin, Thatta, Mirpurkhas, T M Khan, Tando Allah Yar, Sh. Banazirabad, Dadu during the forecast period.

All concerned authorities have been requested to remain alert during the forecast period.
