DHA wrongly accused of cutting down mango trees in Multan

Multan: The Defence Housing Authority (DHA) was wrongly accused of cutting down thousands of mango trees in Multan to pave way for a new housing society, BBC reported.

According to the publication, multiple videos doing the rounds on social media were filmed last year when the trees were being cut down by the City Housing Society near Bosan Road and another location.

Senior journalists and environmentalists raised serious concern over the destruction of mango orchards in Multan.

TV anchors Rauf Klasra, Imran Riaz Khan and Prime Minister Imran Khan’s nephew and renowned lawyer Hassan Niazi were among prominent who voiced their concern over destruction of nature in the City of Saints.

According to multiple reports, as many as 90,000 mango trees have been cut down in Multan.

The truth behind the viral Multan videos was uncovered by BBC Urdu.

The journalists who tweeted against the DHA have yet to delete their remarks from the micro blogging website.
