HEC Pakistan website hacked? Fact-check

Islamabad: A local broadcaster on Thursday reported that Higher Education Commission’s website was hacked.

But it later turned out that the TV report was based on a screenshot of website’s homepage that was circulated on social media.

The screenshot was edited by someone who wanted to create the impression that the education body’s was prone to cyber attacks.

Many students who visited the website said the website was slow due to overwhelming traffic but it was not hacked.
