Khawar Ghumman did not wear burqa to court says lawyer

Lahore: ARY anchor Khawar Ghumman was granted protective bail by the Lahore High Court on Saturday in a case that was registered against him after Shahbaz Gill’s controversial remarks about the army aired on the private broadcaster.

Ghumman’s lawyer Abuzar Salman Niazi dismissed the rumors that the anchor was clad in a burqa when he secretly arrived at the court.

Niazi said that Khawar Ghumman openly came to the court from the GPO Gate with him.

Earlier, Ghumman was trolled by several journalists after senior court reporter Abdul Qayyum Siddiqui said he wore burqa to enter the court.

Although Siddiqui did not name Ghumman, the ARY anchor’s tweet suggested he was the target of the tweet mentioning burqa.
