Margalla Hills fire Islamabad in pictures
Islamabad: Firefighters were trying to douse a fire that erupted on Margalla Hills in Islamabad on Friday. The fire and smoke that bellowed from the forest was seen by the residents of the federal capital who pictured the horrific scenes from the city.
Preliminary reports suggested that the fire was caused by a burning cigarette thrown by a citizen in the area despite a ban on smoking.
Hundreds of birds were reportedly killed in the fires that continued to rage on Friday. According to officials, most of the fires have been extinguished and efforts were underway to control the remaining.
