Mufti Muneeb meets army chief as deadlock between govt, TLP persists

Islamabad: Mufti Muneeb-ur-Rehman met Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa on Saturday.

According to reports, he also called on Prime Minister Imran Khan.

Mufti Muneeb was accompanied by Aqeel Karim Dehdi and Maulana Bashir Farooqui in the meeting that took place in view of the TLP march on Saturday evening.

The meeting took place after thousands of TLP protesters gathered in Punjab’s Wazirabad as they prepared to converge on Islamabad.

The deadlock between the government and the TLP has raised concerns across Pakistan.

The government has set up a committee to hold talks with the TLP leaders to end protest.

The reports of Mufti Munieeb’s meeting with the army chief have not confirmed by the army or the government.
