Nawaz Sharif narrates what happened on 12 October 1999

London: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz leader Mian Nawaz Sharif recalled the 1999 coupe which saw his ouster at the hands of the then army chief General Pervez Musharraf.

Speaking to the media and party workers, Nawaz, who was eased out of power in the bloodless coup, recounted how Gen Mehmood entered his bedroom with 12 armed guards.

The three-time former prime minister said when he tried to inform his wife Begum Kulsoom Nawaz about the situation in Islamabad on telephone,Mehmood asked his men to cut the line.
