Nawaz Sharif’s statement about Musharraf receives mixed reaction

London:Former prime minister Nawaz Sharif on Tuesday said that the government would facilitate Pervez Musharra’s return to Pakistan if he is willing to come back to his country.

In a Twitter statement, Sharif said, ” I have no personal enmity with Pervez Musharraf. “I don’t want anyone to undergo the pain for their loved ones which I had to endure. I pray to Allah for his health.”

Sharif’s statement coincided with DG ISPR’s statement that the army leadership wants Musharrf to return to Pakistan.

His tweet received mixed reaction, with some people praising him for showing what they said grace.

Majority of journalists and rights activists criticized him for paving the way for Musharraf’s return.

The critics said Sharif has no right to pardon the former president as he had subverted then constitution.

Musharraf toppled Nawaz Sharif in a bloodless coup in 1999 and ruled the country till 2008.
