Pakistan finds no oil and gas reserves off Karachi, confirms govt

Karachi: Pakistan’s offshore drilling efforts have failed to find any oil and gas reserves near Karachi, said Petroleum Adviser Nadeem Babar said on Saturday.

Speaking to the media, he said a joint venture led by ENI, an Italian company carried out the drilling up to the depth of 5500 meters some 230 kilometers off Karachi coast.

Earlier Prime Minister Imran Khan had asked the people to pray for the efforts to succeed.

He said the reserves, if found, would be enough to meet Pakistan’s needs for the next 50 years.
