Pakistan trade deficit reduces by $1 billion : PM Imran Khan

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan on Tuesday said Pakistan’s economy has showed signs of improvements with its trade deficit decreasing by $1 billion during the last few months.

The prime minister used his Twitter account to shed light on the current economic situation, saying that Pakistan’s economic stabilization measures have showed positive results with exports rising and imports falling in January 2019 as compared to 2018.

Khan said deficit in services trade also went down by 800 million and remittances from Overseas Pakistanis went up by 12.2 percent from July 2018 to January 2019 as compared to the same period last year.

“The clear improvements in our external accounts indices prove success of our economic policies,” he said.

The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf has been facing criticism from opposition parties as well as economy experts over its economic policies.
