PTI says ‘imported government’ hashtag saw overwhelming response

Islamabad: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Thursday said that more than 30 million tweets have been posted under the hashtag #importedgovernment it started after the removal of prime minister Imran Khan in a no-confidence motion last week.

The Urdu language hashtag trend was started after it became clear that Khan’s political nemesis Shehbaz Sharif would replace him as the prime minister of Pakistan.

The official account of Imran Khan’s party said in a Twitter statement, “More than 3 crore tweets with 8 crore engagement on our HT. The people of Pakistan have completely rejected the imported government!”
