Ride hailing app Uber hosts male, female drivers at first mega event in Pakistan
LAHORE: Ride hailing smartphone app Uber hosted its first Expo- Uber Jahaan to to acknowledge the great work partner drivers have been doing in providing safe, reliable rides to people across Pakistan.
Families of the drivers were also invited to the event which saw participants engage in a full day of entertainment, music, food and various fun-filled activities.
Although Uber Expo has been held annually in various cities around the globe including London, Cairo, and Nairobi it was the first time it was brought to to Pakistan.
For the Uber Jahaan, corporate and public partners were taken on board to enhance the experience for the attendees including Motorway Police and Rescue 1122.
A female partner driver, Mehreen said, “I’m happy to be associated with the Uber family. It has not only given me the opportunity to earn a livelihood but also enabled me to help people by providing them with safe and affordable commute. This is a wonderful initiative by them to show appreciation towards us all.”
The event concluded with a musical concert featuring a performance by Ibrar Ul Haq. With an attendance of over 20,000 people, the full-day show exhibited a palpable energy by all the participants.
Since Uber’s arrival in Pakistan over two years ago, it has created thousands of flexible economic opportunities and moved hundreds of thousands of people across the country. Through its products – from Moto to Auto and the various car services – Uber is providing accessible and low-cost mobility solutions for multiple segments of the population.
Uber General Manager of Pakistan, Safee Shah talking about the event said, “Our aim with this expo is to ensure that drivers get an experience beyond earnings, we shared the main highlights, and successes from the year. We figured the best way to do this was to engage them and their families at a forum where all could come together and enjoy a day of leisure and entertainment. I also express my gratitude to the partners from manufacturing to automobile industry, corporations and government for extending their support and making this event a success.”
