Shehryar Afridi stopped at US airport, opponents circulate fake picture

New York: Kashmir Committee Chairman Shehryar Afridi was reportedly stopped at New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport where he was interrogated for hours.

According to Pakistani media, he was allowed to enter the US only after Pakistani diplomats intervened. Foreign Office said in a state, “As a first time visitor Afridi had secondary screening briefly and was cleared in routine without any guarantees being sought or given by anyone from the embassy or the consulate. It said some social media posts and news reports in this regard are contrary to the facts.

As soon as the report of the incident surfaced online, PTI opponents had an opportunity settle a score with the ruling party whose members have long trolled former prime minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi who had faced the similar situation upon is arrival in the US.

Many people made claims that Afridi was strip searched at the airport and circulated a picture which was originally uploaded a couple of years ago. Claims that the picture does Kashmir Committee Chairman Shehryar Afridi are incorrect.
