Sohni Dharti’ singer Shahnaz Begum dies in Bangladesh
DHAKA: Shahnaz Begum, who sang and immortalized Sohni Dharti Allah Rakhe Qadam Qadam Abad, is no more.
She died in Bandladesh at the age of 67 after suffering hearth attack whcih proved fatal on Pakistan Day.
Born on 2 January 1952 in Dhaka, she sang for Bangladeshi and Pakistani films.
Written by Jameeluddin AAli, Sohni Dharti Allah Rakhay was commissioned by forer prime minister Zulifqar Ali Bhutto.
“Shahnaz Begum passed away in Bangladesh on March 23rd when many Pakistanis were listening her famous song “Sohni Dharti Allah Rakhey Qadam Qadam Abad “on Pakistan day,” senior Pakistan journalist Hamid Mir wrote on Twitter.
