Ex-ISI officer Brigadier Asad Munir commits suicide

ISLAMABAD: Former ISI officer Brigadier (retd) Asad Muni has committed suicide , police said on Friday days after reports surfaced that the National Accountability Bureau has filed a corruption reference against him.

Family sources said the former officer of the country’s principal intelligence agency was found hanging from a ceiling fan.

They said Munir was deeply upset after the anti-corruption watchdog implicated him in a reference over restoration of a plot in F-11 area of the federal capital.

He had also served as Member Estate at the Capital Development Authority.

Asad Munir also left a letter to the Chief Justice of Pakistan before killing himself.

He wrote that he was committing suicide to avoid humiliation.
