‘The Case Against Adnan Syed’ premier: Sharapova’s boyfriend turns out to be Jemima Khan’s acquaintance

LONDON: Alexander Gilkes, boyfriend of Russian Tennis star Maria Sharapova, is known as New York’ best-connected Briton.

 It recently turned out that he is also acquainted with Jemima Goldsmith also known as Jemima Khan, the former wife of Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan.

Jemima Khan was involved in the production of “The Case against Adnan Syed”, a documentary series Directed by Academy Award nominee Amy Berg.

It explores 1999 disappearance and murder of 18-year old Korean-American student Hae Min Lee and subsequent conviction of her Pakistani-American ex-boyfriend, Adnan Syed.

As the documentary premiered on March 10, Gilkes used his Instagram story to show his excitement and told Jemima Khan that he will be tuning in to watch “The Case against Adnan Syed”.

According to British media, the multimillionaire Englishman was a guest at Prince William and Kate Middleton’s wedding and his ex-wife is friends with Meghan Markle.

He is understood to have become friends with Prince William when both were at Eton.

Gilkes, who has been dating Sharapova for over a year now, is also said to be close with Prince Harry who also went to same school.
